Our Optometry Services

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

At my2020 Optometrists, we offer a comprehensive range of services to cover all aspects of your eye health care. As your first point of contact for all eye health concerns, our expert optometrists are here to make sure all your needs are met. Below showcases the types of consultations that we offer:

Initial Consultation at an Optometry

The first time you visit us for an eye test, our optometrist will take the time to become familiar with you and your eyes, including your concerns and daily visual needs. We use state-of-the-art ophthalmic instruments to perform a comprehensive eye test for you. Despite being bulk-billed under Medicare, our optometrists still ensure to allocate enough time to examine your eyes thoroughly each visit, testing your vision and prescription, general eye health and signs of eye diseases.

Comprehensive consultation usually takes 30-45 minutes per optometry session.

Short Consultation

If you just need to update your prescription for new glasses or a brief ocular health check, our optometrists can help you examine your eyes in a shorter visit.

Short consultation usually takes 15-20 minutes per session.

Visual Field Test

We offer bulk-billed visual field testing to examine your field-of-view, which may be needed to screen for symptoms of eye disease, monitor existing conditions or mandated by driver’s licence renewal forms.

OCT Scan

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a scan used to examine each of the layers of your retina. Our optometrists can perform this test to diagnose or monitor certain eye diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Dry Eye Treatments

We offer various dry eye treatments to manage common dry eye symptoms. Please consult our optometrists to determine which option is most suitable for you.

  • IPL - Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is currently the most effective treatment to manage symptoms of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). It is quick and effective for most patients. It is an on-going treatment. Our optometrist recommends 4 continuous sessions per course for an effective treatment.

  • Blephasteam - Blephasteam is another popular treatment of MGD symptoms. It is suitable for patients with sensitive skin.

  • Eye drops and oral supplements - our optometrists will offer recommendations and supply eye drops and oral supplements that are tailored to your individual dry eye symptoms.

Contact Lens Fitting

If you’re interested in wearing contact lenses or want to try a new brand, our experienced optometrists can help you choose the most suitable type of contact lens according to your eye condition. We will help you trial the lens until you find the most comfortable fit. You may be eligible for bulk-billing under Medicare depending on your prescription.

Contact Lens Training

Our optometrists love to teach new wearers how to wear contact lenses, including insertion, removal and maintenance. Each wearer learns at their own pace, and our optometrists are here to make sure you get enough practice until you are confident, even if you need separate visits.

Ortho-K

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is a custom-designed contact lens worn overnight to reshape the cornea. This allows myopic wearers to have clear vision in the daytime without wearing glasses or contact lenses. It has also been shown to be a very effective myopia control method. Our optometrists have years of experience with prescribing and managing Ortho-k lenses, especially for children. Please arrange a consultation to see if your child is suitable for Ortho-k.

Atropine

Low-dose atropine eye drops are administered to the eye for myopia control purposes and can only be obtained through prescription by an optometrist. It is another popular option for myopia control as it is safe and easy to use. Please consult our optometrists to see if your child is suitable for atropine.
